Hi, I decided to keep a log (blog I suppose) of all the exercise that I do this year! It will help keep me on track and keep a track of what I am doing!
The very first thing I want to say is that the running and general increase in exercise is NOT an new year's resolution, I am just continuing and restarting things I did last year and previously!! Writing the Blog thinggy and publishing about what I am doing is sort of a new year resolution but mainly it is the thing I was thinking about doing this morning while I was on my run! So in keeping with the policy I am trying to instigate of doing stuff not just thinking about stuff, here is a blog!!
Today I went for a run. It was the first on this year and the first one for about 1 month, I also have to admit that towards the end of last year my running and general exercise motivation had lapsed to say the least!! So back in the swing of things...I went 4.5k this is actually one of the longest training runs I have done and it was a nice route so I think it will become a more frequent one! I did the whole thing at intervals of 1min30s running followed by 1 min walk apart from the last 4 mins where I walked the whole way to cool down. The whole workout took 46 mins.
Now to more experienced runners this does not necessarliy sound like a very good run but for me with my current state of fittness and recent poor exercise motivation it is pretty good, it is also a pretty good place to start!!
I discovered a few things today (possibly rediscovered) during my run;
1) you lookl like an idiot in hi visability flourescent coat and hat in bright sunshine!
2) you don't care that you look like an idiot because you feel proud of yourself for just getting out there and running!!
3) running makes you stand up taller and feel much more cheerful
4) while running good layering coupled with good technical fabrics makes your body temperature regulate very well!
5) no real layering, ie just wearing running trousers makes you get very cold legs and a cold bum!
6) I like running in winter when it is cold but sunny and the air is crisp (apart from the bit where you get a cold bum!)
I also considered attempting to set up some sort of virtual running partners network, because as much as I like running on my own it would be nice to compare notes with others. Now I know that there are running forums but everyone seems to be better than me. So part of this is setting up this blog, after that unfortunately I am a bit useless at networking so nothing my come of it!
I should darw this to a close or it will become less of a blog and more of a babble, today's goal was to run and to set up a blog, both goals achieved! woo hoo!!
Tomorrows goal: go to at least one class at the gym, run again. I'll tell you tomorrow if I acheive them!
